Very naughty of me but it about 2 on Tuesday and I am writing now as I will be at a party from 9 pm onward and in no state to post later. So A creative and spirited New year to everyone. Wishing you good health, success in all your endeavors and happiness with friends and family. My desk is as usual a mess and today is showing my December 2013 calendar on the left of my 2014 art journal opened at January entry.

To start the year I am taking a class with Joanne Sharpe.

The 15 Prompts of December

When Terri  posted the 15 prompts of Christmas i initially dismissed it then decided I needed a kick start to the New Year.  once started, it was  so much fun, the idea was to make pages in a journal and a prompt for each day to inspire and motivate, instead of pages the prompts were created with tags.  Then my Gelli printing plates arrived. This addictive habit creates a life time of backgrounds in a few days.  Some of the pages were made into a book using an accordion folded binding that had been on my mind to make for a year!  The tags were then added to Gelli print pages.

The cover made from Gelli Plate print background and die cuts

Painted accordion fold binding made from file folders.

I used blue print paper with washi strips on front inside cover. First prompt was to make backgrounds and the second was" to do lists" (on the tag ).

on reverse side of  every tag page is some journaling.  prompt 3  is a favorite holiday movie.   Mine is "Joyeaux Noel" a french movie, tag is on a black a white ghost print.

prompt 4 is "a home made gift to treasure forever".  This tag is about the afghan Lynne Kelly crocheted for me when i retired.

Prompt 5 on the left is" baked with love" so here are my favorite goodies

Prompt 6  is  "then and now" favorite holiday tradition, forget now, then it was the visit to Santa's grotto!

And Now Thanks to the Magic of Blogger the photos are out of order!
Below is Prompt 10 a "favorite Holiday song".  I like the drinking version of  12 days of Christmas.
On the right is Prompt 12 "Decorations of Gold".  Love the fairy on the top of the tree and  antique glass ornamants.

Prompt 14 the "Craziest Holiday Ever", my first of 40 with Chris, spent on the island of Jersey.  Thomasina the cat saw you to your room and checked it when you were leaving.

Prompt 15 the "Word of the Year".  One is never enough!

Back cover at top and accordion pulled out.  It is a better technique for smaller books this is about 10x10 inches.

prompt 8 was "Who do you Miss".  My friend Wanda who introduced me to crafting and was oh so much fun.  Christmas was her favorite time.

Prompt 9 was to make a holiday mandala "In the round".  Not really my thing.  I made it with Dye cuts

Prompt 11" Traditions", my favorite was the tree and the magic, that remains  created out of a tiny 18 inch tree when i was a child.

The observant among you will note there are only 13 prompts.  I missed out #7 to show a handmade gift to make in an hour and #13 to doodle/zentangle an ornament.  Zentangle is way out of my interest zone.  It requires too much  repetition and precision.

So hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and are ready to craft your way through another year.

237 oh what a mess Again!

Gelli plates must drive OCD folks. Up the wall. They inspire me and a mess is created. I made some of last week's plates into cards and then made more and envelopes
The mess . This process is so inspiring and i just go crazy.
The card 's made from last weeks stash. The best are ready to be sent out to friends
i made envelopes. A fun endeavor.   This is such a challenging medium.  Well that is because there are so many ideas to works with.
Week was busy with action and now we want to just get going on stuff. amazing how Gelli Plates inspire.
Too much good wine tonight.
Amazing my eyes are stinging I want to sleep and yet I am awake at 5 am.
Time for bed. I am always so tired
Why does this double space. ( that was on iPad where i started writing this).

I am so tired today and yesterday everything in my body aches.
we really do not celebrate Christmas but this week we have a load of parties.  Last night a fun one with neighbors.  Tomorrow a dinner and Saturday a wild and crazy affair.

So what is on you workspace check Julie and trip around the globe.

And so to bed

My Gelli Plate arrived and I have descended into an oblivious messy bliss. Gelli plates are what I decided not to buy some time ago and a few weeks ago the urge to ink up and mess over came Me.....really the advent of more Kate Crane DVDs spurred me on together with a hint of "Be Prepared" to indulge in yet another class.
The scene. Desk after a wild afternoon with Gelli Plates
I bought some stencilsfrom Artists Cellar. They are really well cut good quality stencils. I have tried starts so far.Imad some of my own stencils out of junk mail using my Big shot dye cutter.they are the curcles you see. I am really excited about this whole process.
Earler in the week I was fired up by something from a friends blog, 15 December Prompts. Usually hate prompts as too much pop psychology of the who am I venue. These were veryappealing in an interesting way and also alerted the concrete. Thought processes to literally interpret.

From left to right 1 was do back grounds. I decided to use the milliontabs made so far.
2 thing to do or need this month.
3 illustrate quotes from favorite holiday movie.
4 a hand made gift to treasure forever.
5 favorite cookie recipies replaced with seasons favorites.
L to R 6 favorite holiday activities then ( and now....forget this). Then it. Was visiting Santas Grotto. Do you rember all that, endless waits a quick whisper to Santa and a crappy gift.
The holiday Mandala is actually 9 and Mandala are not me you have to have some ocd genes for this stuff . So 8 is "Who do you miss"....my friend Wanda, who got me crafting, she loved Christmas. She passed several years ago.
So that is the week in review, a frenzy of crafting and angst and tearing up and oh so much fun. So on wards. Activities will be curtailed by seasonal socializing. Too much going on next week.
Now run over to the divine Miss Julie at http//:stamping-ground.blogspot and see what its all about.

PS i do hope. The photos shape up they have grown!

I spent hours over the last two days with a Gelli plate.   I always said I would not but her I am elbow deep in paint and a load of awful prints.  It is the sort of back ground you keep touching up ....disaster.  I had bought new stencils to work with then the plate.  It is easy to do but getting those gorgeous background you see around is not easy.  I think that I am missing something as I have paint allover the Gelli Plate, down the sides and under the mat.  The video I watched said it was easy and you could get great results with craft paints.  maybe but cleaning up is a nightmare.

I need to get back to my 15 December prompts.  So far half way though.  I decided to make them on tags and them put in a journal.

Worktop is dumping ground for everything taken on trip and never looked at!

It seems I am never prepared for it to be Wednesday.  Even when I write this up on Tuesday in the morning I will have forgotten the day and remember that I failed to post as the Zumba music kicks in and arms and legs take off in something that dies not resemble a dance step.  Last week we left on a very cold Wednesday for Mission TX to spend Thanksgiving in the RV with friends and.....Tripper.  he really was precious and his being with us compensates a little for traveling.  We bought him a box used only to get him in the RV, and a harness and lead.  That was a no, no.  Claws firmly planted in ground.
So no art or craft, well I finished the beading part of my bracelet on the way home .  I read going and finished my book The Farthest Home Is in an Empire of Fire: A Tejano Elegy by John Phillip Santos, on the return.  The author is a San Antonio native whose roots extend to the conquistadors and early settlers, the book is the story of his search for those roots and is set in the area we visited.
We saw the famous Green Jays and the Chachalaca, a large chicken like bird with a shrill call when threatened.  The whole are is along the banks of the Rio Grande and is swamp and tropics heavily guarded for Mexico is across the river and it is the territory of the dope lords and gangs.  Often a mist hangs over the park and all you hear are the birds.

So not much of anything craft or artsy this week.  Oh yes I ordered Gelli plates from Dick Blicks on Cyber Monday but NO special deal for me.

Now on with the laundry

Have to tell you I bought several dozen Tamales from Delias,  they are the best.  Very spicy and tasty.

For anyone new tuning in WOYWW is not a secret society or a witch's coven, it is all the idea of Ms Dunnet, Julie, click over there and take a tour!

This week has not been productive or has it? This is my desk today. I cleaned out all kinds of things Saturday, tossed a ton of saved bits. The sort of bits you think you will use and after a year or two have never used. In the blue bag is a a mini book made  into a card for a friend. Will have to show next week.

Today I wanted to get going on with my journaling, that's what is on the desk. The fuzzy looking page is a gessoed Dylusions page. The writing was not laid  out well. The phrase for all of you straining your eyes is "smile it raises the wrinkles". The page above was another moment of " ???? To do" and so I tried out a new stamp made of sponge. Found it in Tuesday Morning a Claudine Helmuthone, not so good.

On Sunday I visited my friend, Deanie, who had had a lumpectomy on Monday. We have met once a month for over 10 years to create both all kinds of crafts and chit chat. OK aka gossip. I decided I need to work on beading when I visit her as I bought so many tubes of beads, during my bead era my guilt level is high.  My carpal tunnel put a hold on beading as beading cramps my hand.   This is the current project, not on my work table but in my work bag. Just a little left to finish and then to attach it to a metal band.  My closet is full of orange clothes but no bracelet. So this was a way to use up beads and fill an accessory need. So this was worked on this week, it is the accumulation of several visits and about 10 hours of work.

Today while preparing the oven to self clean i wrenched my back. The heat pad and chocolate seem to be helping. A new cure!

Have a great WOYWW.  And check out here if you our wondering what this is all about.

WOYWW 31 what a week

Here is my desk. i started to clean it up and remembered there was a  digi card I needed to make for the subdivision ladies Christmas lunch. So I quit the tidy up, very much needed after several days of mini book making. The first mini was made with a paper from Tuesday morning, cheap and dark with no contrast on each side.  I rushed over to Tuesday Morning recalling double sided paper and found some that was stronger and decided to buy  as it is only $1.99 for 20 sheets. The two pink spotted books are some of the ones made with this paper.   It is quite horrendous but since the pages are covered with bits and pieces it should be OK.  The mini books are made from folding.  The one on the right uses no glue.  My friend Deanie had a lumpectomy Monday so one of the books was used as a card. it was stop and start with the "how to" video.  I cannot remember what they say while the video runs.  it's like being in one of those silent movies where they are all chasing around!
The video was from Dawn's Inspirations and she is a Brit.excellent video.

My stash does not contain all those cutey things, embellishments, they use to decorate the mini albums so I made it my way.  it started off cute and rapidly deteriorated to funky.  SO now that I know how to make mini albums I will use them for cards until the next great idea appears. had to mail the one to Deanie and never photographed it.

Here are the digi invites. (Have to go to PC for them)
The one above was rejected as too modern
this is 3 and below is 2 .  They look great on the computer and awful when printed as they are low on pixels and as we all know low pixels makes a dull you outside of the digi world.   Its like having low calcium.,

Oh well, will get to your posts tomorrow for WOYWW. Wondering what this is about?  Check out Julia to find out what it is all about. The crafty noseies!!,

off to beddie byes.See you in the morning!

Today i can see the top of my desk. I managed to complete a few things on my to do list and catchup. So i feel happy about that. Next, I saw someone called Dawn make a wallet out of a 12x12 scrapbook doublesided sheet so I plan to give it a try. Expect blue air to cross the Atlantic as this is a video and there seem to be no patterns. Here is my desk; to the left some stamps bought andused to make Sympathy cards. To the right is my Art Journal Calander page. This month I am going to just write each day without set little squares and see how it goes. This may be very creative or a frigging mess
There were other projects that grabbed my time like this birthday card for a friend this Friday. Hope friend Kay does not read my Blog. It's a surprise card for her hubby Art whose Birthday is 11/1, All Souls Day so I used a Day of the Dead theme and some craziness . The green is the envelope and this is the card. It was 12 x 9 watercolor paper. I made several layers of stenciling and stamping, cut out the figures, made the labels, not just once but many times,   Finally SUCCESS!
Next the inside, after many false starts this..... Pockets to store read time to plan .... bucket list. This is layout is from Dyans class, she made it as a page for a journal, I just adapted it.
Next I finally completed a Sympathy card that was started a week ago . The garbage is full of mess ups that ranged from from inky finger prints to goofy stamping and background messes. I covered the card with Texas made Japanese paper,( and you thought we were all finding oil and rounding up cattle). Yes, a friend's cousin found this printing press and started a printing business modifying Japanese methods, very classy paper. I get the scraps when I'm lucky. The background  of the inner part is simply a Tim technique. Its a start.

So that's it. Ms Dunnit the founder of this list has returned from Spin without pictures of her doing the flamenco on table top.  She had the idea for this list. (The spell check is not working and i do not know how to add the link). So go to  http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and find out how it works and get  to mosey in on the world of artisans, crafters and crazies.

I write this in Blogsy on my ipad and do not seem able to get the spell check working.  I just installed an up grade and they create wild and crazy actions.  i then check it on faithful PC.  What horror I find, makes me feel my first language was not English! Definitely part of a punctuation free tribe.

WOYWW 229 Bad Week

Do not. Seem to be able to do any thing this week except cook. My muse seems to wander and never sticks with anything. I managed to complete so of Tim Holtz class but not too much mostly embossing. Th many tag backgrounds. I am trying to get a handle on the Samsung GS4. i cannot answer phone call as I seem unable to swipe when it rings. The phots taken on it do not fly off to a cloud or even Picasa. Here is the work space.

My brother in law died Sunday morning and i have not made progress in making a Sympathy card. George was a very sweet loving man. He was ill for a short time and I. Found out from a post on FB. I called and tlked to my sister . Shewas in shock but hadher kids and grand kids with her. She does not use a computer. Long time since I sawthem and strange to think they have grown old while i see them as they where 10 years ago.

Well that is it for tonight. Tomorrow will visit everyone. Julia seems to be in. spain having a blast.

WOYWW 228 frustrated

There is nothing like a new cell phone to turn one into a doddering old woman. Last week I bought a Samsung GS4 , my very first cell phone, thinking I had successfully conquered the cyber world and would transfer from ipad with ease. How could I have really imagined that to be true. Well it turns out that verizon was the thorn in my side. The two accounts are as I write separate but the devices share the same passwords etc. after a fruitless attempt to set up MyVerizon I was informed what was not my password etc. The endless pages of numbers codes user ids, and numbers of this that and the other was known. Well to everyone but me. It was sorted after endless hours of listening to drivel, when on hold, about all the devises I should buy. And instead of drowning my exasperation in several glasses of wine i decieded to write my blog. Only thing is my desk is devoid of anything other than junk and is a dump station. A week pf doctor visits has interupted my play time. Doctors beget doctors and test. So additional hearing test resulted in my getting yet more evidence that i have a hearing loss and blood tests resulted in a sore arm.

The dump station to left is todays catch barely visible in the debris

The other impediment is tripper who can turn off an ipad with a quick paw movement or a claw outstretched to my throat, really a gesture of ....fill my bowl. Not that he is hungry, he just likes a full bowl. Since he no longer meows he is into body language.

Over the weekend i stencilled the bedroom walls only door remain to be done. It looks quite nice but the stencils were smaller than i imagined

In a few hours it will be Wednesday why not head over to stampingground.blogspot.com and sign up to see Ms Dunnit's creative way for us all to get toether and share whats on your work workspace.

All spelling errors and written garbage are the fault of Apple. They know everything!

WOYWW. 227 what a week

This week was so busy, again! We started on th painting the bedroom well not we but he. He rejected my offer of help so here it was Saturday. First coat of paint.

He started with great gusto and wound down. now just trim and stencil to complete it: bed due Friday. So what have I worked on since Dyan class, why a couple of pages, really to practice lettering. No meaning or deep angst!

I just had fun with them. Monday I started Tim Holtz Creative Chenistry 102. He started with his Distress Paints of which I have none so I used acrylics on hand just to try techniques. He called it marbeling and I had tried it once before with my ultra cheap Walmart acrylic paints, more dead than alive. I really do not like the matt finish and think the distress inks are the ultimate fun great media for backgrounds. At some point I may purchase some of his but at the moment no money left in my budget as i bought a Samsung and signed up with verizon. i t arrives tomorrow.

The next one is a metallic acrylic technique that I believe has not only a wow factor but potential. Alas WalMart Acrylics did not rise to the occaision, though I felt there was a hint of something wonderful waiting to emerge. The second to the right was the one with the mettalic top coat that was ripped off with a paper towel to reveal a patina. Regrets no patina and not much rip off. There were many techniques with each daily lesson and i just selected a few I was interested in.

Next i switched to Day 2 and a Mixed media Tag using his stencils that I bought and just love. There were six layers. i loved the effect. Making three as one is for the record and 2 for me to finish. Tim is very organized in the class and has a great set up that enables one to return to the print out or video at any Making layers was always hard for me so with this I used the stencils he used to make me do it. Well he did introduce a brand new stencil so I substituted the rays one

Anyway that is my desk today, tuesday and i will post and link now as tomorrow is a busy day. It is another week of doctor visits and so far great news, cancer free and I am in great health and young for my age. I actually feel ancient.

So off to bed. Tomorrow, Wednesday, I will visit lots of you to see whats on your workspace so back to Julia and see what she is up to today.
