WOYWW 215. Card making is not for me

This is week 2 of the card making class with Jennifer MdGuire. The hardest part is thinking how to use the idea with the stuff you have, hunting it down and substituting what you find. It is too precise for me and I am not used to all the cleaning up so that I do not have ink every where as well as powder from embellishing, although I do like this. So here is my desk

The three standing I like as I managed to get hold of me, give me a quick shake or two and say forget copying them think it through. The flat colored one to the right is an absolute "fismal dailure" . My dads way of not using the word failure so it would also not make you feel bad. I thought it would be a breeze. But all is not lost, ideas abound. I do like the bird one but the embellishments, 2 buttons make it look like he is dumping!!! I signed up for this class as Maile Belles  is a guest designer and love her simple style.
Apparently I have a genetic trait that exclude simple and classy.

This is the card I made today that my DH mailed to his sister: all she will think about is HE sent it. It is also a fine example of poor lighting and hurried photo taking as he wanted to mail it. To the right are my Dyan stencils they arrived today. They are much bigger than expected. Time to return to my Kate Crane DVD.

Tripper reluctantly visited the vet today the good news is he has gained 6 lbs. hurrah!
Chez Nous received a clean out of the laundry room and new appliances after the room was painted. I had to try the  machines out and the washer washes and the dryer dries. No laundress included.  I have yet to try the steam function.  Amazing how much junk accumulates on high shelves.  Ah the plague of we shorties.

Have a good week and visit everyone try Stampin Ground for all the info on how to check in with crafters around the world
Bye for now

  2. LOL! Oh Monica great post! You can bring me the bird pooping card, I like it! You must always remember to just be YOU IN YOUR ART!
I would send the washer and dryer back if it didn't include a laundress.....although they do wash and they do dry and that is 2 out of 3....

  3. I'm still laughing over your bird comment. I tried to enlarge the photo, but couldn't get it to do anything. It could be my computer, since I'm having a few issues as usual. I'm not a card maker, so anything card related gets lost on me.

Those stencils look super, though, albeit a bit large. Happy WOYWW from #2.

  5. Cards look cute, the one doesn't look like a "fismal dailure" I like what you did with the inks running. Brigita #25

  8. I can totally relate to your genetic trait Monica, I love clean and simple cards but usely cannot perfect them to the way I would like. I always seem to make a mess of them. Your bird card with the cherry blossoms is just adorable I love the varied color and textures. Happy WOYWW! Danie #34

  16. I love your "fismal dailure" comment and I think I might have to use it with my family. Your cards are lovely and I think you are being too hard on yourself. I noticed you have some lovely stencils on your desk and I have one very similar from "the crafters workshop" probably a lot smaller than yours. Have a lovely week.

  18. "Fismal dailure" is definitely one to remember!!

You've been a busy crafting girl, as usual - and I really like your card sent to Chris' sister :) Dumping bird?! You are funny :D

Great news about Tripper - 6lbs!!!

    Have a wonderful week,

  19. Being a card marker I know how messy it can be, but with your statements about it not being for you, I found I was very curious as to what your craft of choice is. Well I took a good look around and I must say the journals I'm seeing are wonderful. I have become a follower of yours this morning too! Just had to keep seeing what you do next!

  20. Hi Monica, bless your dad's desire not to use the word failure, fismal dailure sounds so much better :) Your cards look fab, even if the wee birdie is having an embarrassing moment, and the card for your SIL is lovely, I'm sure she will appreciate it more than you think. I, too, am vertically challenged and I have finally persuaded my 6-footer DH that I need a footstep to reach the top shelves, especially if he is going to complain every time I use a chair to climb on instead of the ladders he recommends for the purpose. Life's too short to go get the ladders when all I want is glass jug from the top shelf!!! Enjoy your day and have a great week. Elizabeth x #47

  24. Don't give up hun. It's by making 'mistakes' that we learn what more about what we should do/avoid in the future. So many of us put things to one side, paint over them, start again with fresh eyes and end up with something better. You'll get there. Hugs, Jenny x
