239 and New Years Day

Very naughty of me but it about 2 on Tuesday and I am writing now as I will be at a party from 9 pm onward and in no state to post later. So A creative and spirited New year to everyone. Wishing you good health, success in all your endeavors and happiness with friends and family. My desk is as usual a mess and today is showing my December 2013 calendar on the left of my 2014 art journal opened at January entry.

To start the year I am taking a class with Joanne Sharpe. Posted with Blogsy

The 15 Prompts of December

When Terri  posted the 15 prompts of Christmas i initially dismissed it then decided I needed a kick start to the New Year.  once started, it was  so much fun, the idea was to make pages in a journal and a prompt for each day to inspire and motivate, instead of pages the prompts were created with tags.  Then my Gelli printing plates arrived. This addictive habit creates a life time of backgrounds in a few days.  Some of the pages were made into a book using an accordion folded binding that had been on my mind to make for a year!  The tags were then added to Gelli print pages.

The cover made from Gelli Plate print background and die cuts

Painted accordion fold binding made from file folders.

I used blue print paper with washi strips on front inside cover. First prompt was to make backgrounds and the second was" to do lists" (on the tag ).
on reverse side of  every tag page is some journaling.  prompt 3  is a favorite holiday movie.   Mine is "Joyeaux Noel" a french…

237 oh what a mess Again!

Gelli plates must drive OCD folks. Up the wall. They inspire me and a mess is created. I made some of last week's plates into cards and then made more and envelopes
The mess . This process is so inspiring and i just go crazy.
The card 's made from last weeks stash. The best are ready to be sent out to friends i made envelopes. A fun endeavor.   This is such a challenging medium.  Well that is because there are so many ideas to works with. Week was busy with action and now we want to just get going on stuff. amazing how Gelli Plates inspire. Too much good wine tonight. Amazing my eyes are stinging I want to sleep and yet I am awake at 5 am.
Time for bed. I am always so tired
Why does this double space. ( that was on iPad where i started writing this).

I am so tired today and yesterday everything in my body aches.
we really do not celebrate Christmas but this week we have a load of parties.  Last night a fun one with neighbors.  Tomorrow a dinner and Saturday a wild and…

My Gelli Plate arrived and I have descended into an oblivious messy bliss. Gelli plates are what I decided not to buy some time ago and a few weeks ago the urge to ink up and mess over came Me.....really the advent of more Kate Crane DVDs spurred me on together with a hint of "Be Prepared" to indulge in yet another class.
The scene. Desk after a wild afternoon with Gelli Plates I bought some stencilsfrom Artists Cellar. They are really well cut good quality stencils. I have tried starts so far.Imad some of my own stencils out of junk mail using my Big shot dye cutter.they are the curcles you see. I am really excited about this whole process.
Earler in the week I was fired up by something from a friends blog, 15 December Prompts. Usually hate prompts as too much pop psychology of the who am I venue. These were veryappealing in an interesting way and also alerted the concrete. Thought processes to literally interpret.

From left to right 1 was do back grounds. I …

I spent hours over the last two days with a Gelli plate.   I always said I would not but her I am elbow deep in paint and a load of awful prints.  It is the sort of back ground you keep touching up ....disaster.  I had bought new stencils to work with then the plate.  It is easy to do but getting those gorgeous background you see around is not easy.  I think that I am missing something as I have paint allover the Gelli Plate, down the sides and under the mat.  The video I watched said it was easy and you could get great results with craft paints.  maybe but cleaning up is a nightmare.
I need to get back to my 15 December prompts.  So far half way though.  I decided to make them on tags and them put in a journal.

Worktop is dumping ground for everything taken on trip and never looked at!
It seems I am never prepared for it to be Wednesday.  Even when I write this up on Tuesday in the morning I will have forgotten the day and remember that I failed to post as the Zumba music kicks in and arms and legs take off in something that dies not resemble a dance step.  Last week we left on a very cold Wednesday for Mission TX to spend Thanksgiving in the RV with friends and.....Tripper.  he really was precious and his being with us compensates a little for traveling.  We bought him a box used only to get him in the RV, and a harness and lead.  That was a no, no.  Claws firmly planted in ground.  So no art or craft, well I finished the beading part of my bracelet on the way home .  I read going and finished my book The Farthest Home Is in an Empire of Fire: A Tejano Elegy by John Phillip Santos, on the return.  The author is a San Antonio native whose roots extend to the conquistadors and early settlers,…
