WOYWW245 back to routine

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the kind thoughts and comments regarding the death of Tripper. We now have entered the happy memories phase of life when we talk of Tripper. I do expect to see him sitting by the door every morning and in the backet in my studio. They are happy thoughts.

So my desk, Journal from l to R My practice book my Draw Your Awesome Self from Joanne Sharpe Class and my art journal for the art journal challenge.

I really enjoyed the class with Joanne Sharpe and. It is my first attempt at using Tombow Markers and really using the Caran d'Arche water soluble crayons i bought several years ago. I have never worked with water colors since childhood.  So for this year I will work at art journaling, in the "Draw Your Awesome Year" journal from Joanne's class and the art journal calender Challenge through Kate Crane; this will be with acrylics and gel plates.

I spend far too much time on the internet with FB and Pinterest and feel if I drop some of the people I follow I may do more of my own work. I follow a lot of folks who are selling their latest product that they come out with every week. This way I can really enjoy the work of people who have impressed me from visiting WOYWW as well as some of the people your blogs introduce. I feel myself being overtaken by the next great gadget, paint, dye or whatever. If I really attempt to use what I have then I might even learn to appreciate my own stuff. Commercialism serves to make you feel spending money on the next product will improve your art when in reality you need to make some things more than once.  And Practice. This years lesson to self!!

Last night we went to a wine-dinner sponsored by our favorite winery, Navarro wines from California. The restaurant was Otto's German Bistro in Fredricksberg TX. As a Valentine gift to us, we decided to spend the night at the Haufman Haus a B&B owned by the Chef parents. It was wonderful and one of the cats shared our morning. he managed to meow outside the door as we had our coffee in bed.

Wine and food were incredible and we met some fun people. Happy we stayed over night as the past two days are below freezing. I am so fed up with winter, the longest in the 11 years we have lived int he TX Hill Country. It is supposed to be 70 (21C) tomorrow, quite up from 29F (-2C).

I will try to post this and add other photos on PC! photos posted to FB can be copied to PC but unable to sync.

  1. I bet Tripper told that kitty to come and give you all a little love!

  2. Glad you have made it to the "acceptance" phase of Tripper. I am not sure what will happen when Bleubeard goes. But it was nice that you had a visitor at least on your overnight stay. We've had sub freezing weather for 11 days, so I will be glad when it finally clears out of here, too.

I stopped visiting blogs (I don't do FB or the other social networks) that did nothing but sell their products. That's why I don't even know what stamp I have or the color of my handmade shimmer mists. I like to think I'll be just as happy if I never learn of the latest and greatest products. And I think you'll be happy, too. Happy WOYWW from #1.

  3. I love your desk, especially the washi tape / ribbon stick. Your journal is beautiful. I too follow lots of blogs. This year I have decided to limit my craft purchasing to things I am missing from my stash - for example, I really need another decent anniversary stamp! I am not dropping blogs, but I am being more sensible with my time. Sounds like you had a good mini break, love the cat in your bed! Cx #31

  4. Hi Monica, your journals are looking fantastic. I love all the water soluble tools that can turn into water color fun. For years I was an oil paint only person, now it is the H2Os all the way.
Thanks for the earlier visit, sure thing, pack your bags and head this way. I've told you before, you come to California at the WRONG time of the year LOL

Glad to hear your healing a little more over Tripper.

I love the journal page with the hearts.....

  5. I too fight the on line battle, more on the time factor than the product factor. I just feel that if I spent as much time at my desk creating, than on line looking at what others have created, I would have more to show for my time, but then the pinterest things are so inspiring, I am more creative at my desk when I get there eventually...catch22! at #32

  6. Wow, wonderful desk with all those art journals! I don't think I've visited you before, so Hello from England x

  7. I always enjoy seeing your space and the gorgeous riot of uplifting colour that it shows. Amazingly I love to share your passion for orange yet it is a colour I avoid generally but with you it is meant to be. Your journal pages are super....... love the hearts for Valentine I presume and I'm singing "All you need is love, love is all you need"! Head worm for the day, no doubt!

  9. Gorgeous heart pages! Love the variety and colors. I'm also "addicted" to Pinterest and get so many great ideas. I'm on there about every other evening while hubby and I watch TV before bed. And what a fun evening! Happy WOYWW and thanks for visiting!

  10. Your table full of beautiful pages--wow! So vibrant and full of color. I'm with you--winter can be over any time now, so those colors are a treat for my spring-longing eyes.

Apparently you were sleeping in Mr. Cat's bed, what nerve!

Thank you for stopping in this woyww, Monica!
    Happy WOYWW to you,

  13. I agree with you, Monica. I have dropped several who are just hyping their latest product. I usually skim the internet at night while watching TV with DH - can't seem to do just one thing. But at least then I don't feel like I"m wasting too much time. Your journals look terrific.

  14. Hi Monica,

I've been MIA fro WOYWW for several weeks so am slowly getting up to speed. I'm so very sorry to hear about your dear cat, Tripper. Losing a pet is a difficult process. I'm glad to hear that you are now remembering the fun and silly times with your furry companion.

You have a lot on your plate with the classes and art journaling. I agree about the commercialism (on pretty much every aspect of our lives). Since I'm moving things from my storage unit back to my home I'm amazed at what I'm re-discovering! Once I'm fully settled I'll feel that I'll have more time for creativity.

    Happy WOYWW

  15. Oh, and I wanted to mention the cat at the B&B. What a great photo!!!

  16. Hi Monica, love your pages, so colourful. How fabulous to have the cat come share your room! I am entirely with you on the FB/Pinterest addiction- I have so many cards pinned 'for inspiration', its ridiculous. Like you say, if I spent less time on line, I'd get more done, lol. Agree too about the need to practice stuff- rarely anything works perfectly the first time. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz # 43 xx

  17. your art journals are beautiful. Looks like you had a fabulous time away, love that you had a visiting kitty!

  18. I am really enjoying your journal pages and yes you are right the products are there to entice us and push for more sales. What a lovely break from the cold you have had and the enjoyment of cat, he does look adorable.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.

    Hugs Eliza 10
