Do you ever have "Buyers Remorse"?
I do when finding something that makes me really excited and ideas flood my brain.  This behaviour is fortified by reading blogs, watching Youtube and a 40% off coupon from Michaels.
This happened about 4 months ago when at Michaels and not finding what I was in the store to buy.  So a tub of black gesso (BG) was soon on the seat next to me going home, and fantasies made the journey home, oh so sweet.  Fast forward to a Saturday clean out to try and find silicon brushes (a Wanderlust remorse buy) and there smiling at me was BG.  A quick search over a long drawn out day through Pinterest (is that ever a fast anything) revealed some wonderful art journal pages that used BG.  My moment had come.
Today after lunch, the plunge   was taken.
Like many thing that interest you on Pinterest, it is rare to find a "How to"  After a self discussion,  several mixed media sheet were completed on both sides, 5 tags  and two pages in 2 journals.

so there you have it, my workspace and what's in/on it.
Oh now what was the great idea on how to use these black gessoed sheets?..........

Stay tuned...............................

  1. Hi Monica, I've been there too! At least you've made a start with your impulse buy. Can't wait to see what you do with all those prepared backgrounds. Happy WOYWW Sarah #20

  2. That's very black indeed! Great for Halloween projects especially :-D. I know what you mean about ideas flooding your brain, but why is there so little time to carry them all out?!

  3. Oh I am the same way. I get lured in by youtube videos and blogs and then before you know it I order something I really don't need. But then again who needs it? We just like the ideas and the feelings we get when we get new stuff. I have improved on impulse buys but have not completely quit. One thing is that I only go onto Instagram about once every other week so I don't allow myself to get sucked and I have reduced the craft videos I watch. So don't feel bad. You will find more creative inspiration to use your stuff.

Have a blessed day and come peek at my desk if you have time!

  4. Hi Monica. Do I ever regret buys? Oh yes, I'm afraid I do - usually the things that take me a lot of practice to make them look presentable!!! But you have taken the plunge - used your black gesso, filled your pages - and now have the opportunity to add other things.... we watch the space.
    Take care. God bless.

  5. LOL your story is so recognizable! Do I ever have buyers remorse! Like buying different sets of coloring material and only to find out I essentially have them already it's just the hype that makes me want to buy them. You tube is a dangerous place for buying more. BUT Lindsay the Frugal Crafter is doing a Kon Mari series on how to make use of what you have and donate what you don't use. I try to live by it and not watch haul video's anymore... Anyway, I digress, black geso is actually not a bad investment! If you have neon and metallic paints, they will pop on it! Just experiment with it more and you'll find use for it I am sure :) Happy rest of the week! xo Cheetarah WOYWW #13

  6. Hi Monica. I'm glad this doesn't just happen to me Lol! I do have a little note book with me now so that if I see a good idea I write a few notes to myself so that I can remember why I bought a particular product. Have a lovely belated woyww, Angela x7x

  7. I am so curious to find out what you did with those black pages... I work on black pages every once in a while but find it a bit difficult... maybe I should go look on PInterest too *lol* Thanks for stopping by my blog last week, I'm mighty late with revisiting - I hope you have a lovely Sunday!
